Not only is Joel a TPS Foundation board member, but he is also a proud TPS alumni. He attended Nathan Hale Elementary School and graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1964.
Joel stayed busy in high school, as he was not only active in sports and theater but also worked in town. Toledo Zoo and Kenwood Pharmacy were two of the jobs he had while in high school.
After graduation Joel attended the University of Toledo majoring in biology and chemistry. His most favorable memory of college was meeting his loving wife. They have been married for over 50 years, have three children and two grandchildren.
His first job after graduating from the University of Toledo was as PensionTrust Supervisor at Carson, Bayer & Associates and Atena Life. But a major accomplishment in his career was becoming the President and CEO of The Toledo Trust Company and then as being a venture investor in the founding of two companies later sold to public companies, More recently he was a co-founder & Principal of Waverly Partners a national Retained Executive Search Firm.
Joel is now semi-retired and serves on several boards and committees. Although Joel is quite busy he finds time to enjoy one of his favorite hobbies, fly fishing!
Joel’s long belief in the importance of education to the success of the community is the reason he joined the TPS Foundation board. We cannot thank Joel enough for all of his time and help with the Foundation!
