DEAR TOLEDO PUBLIC SCHOOLS SUPPORTER,

Like many of you, we have worked hard to make our dreams a reality, and with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, out of sheer necessity, we’ve had to work even harder.  This is especially so for our TPS students and educators.  When you look back on your career, could you have achieved the success you have without quality teachers, quality classroom materials, before and after school programs, and scholarships?  Could you have achieved that success while obtaining an education during a global pandemic?  We have had significant opportunities, and we feel that all children, and their teachers, deserve the same.

As we emerge from the COVID pandemic, the importance and availability of a quality public education has only been magnified.

While Toledo Public Schools has a long history of successfully challenging students to learn and grow, crucial educational programming and enrichment activities that are integral to students’ success are no longer guaranteed.  Cuts in public education funding and the local property tax cap create challenges that cannot be resolved with traditional funding, and these funding shortfalls are not going to go away on their own.

The Toledo Public Schools Foundation is actively reaching out to the community to gain the financial support for critical programs now and in the future; the Foundation’s goal is to fill those funding shortfalls.  We have been successful in bringing resources into the district so that ALL Toledo Public Schools children have the tools they need to succeed, and we will continue to do so.  We invest in real children, real dreams and real opportunities, not just because we choose to, but because we must, as quality public education is key to a vital and successful community.

The Foundation is in the midst of a $1.5 million – “Write the Future” – campaign, in addition to its annual fundraising campaign, to fund these very important initiatives.  We know that these bold fundraising initiatives on the heels of a global pandemic demand a high level of engagement and support from throughout the community – and that’s where you come in.  The Foundation cannot do this without you!

We are hoping that you will consider making a generous donation to the TPS Foundation as a way to show how important Toledo Public Schools is to you and your commitment to quality public education.
