The Toledo Public Schools Foundation (TPSF) is pleased to announce a $675,000 gift from the Owens Corning Foundation. This investment will further the TPSF commitment to producing college and career-ready students at TPS through the Foundation’s Write the Future Campaign.

The economic success of the Toledo area over the next decade depends on the development of new jobs and the availability of qualified professionals to fill available positions. TPS’ commitment to producing college and career-ready graduates will help our community thrive in the future. TPSF has created collaborative partnerships with organizations that have a successful track record of creating viable pathways to a productive career for every student in TPS. This is demonstrated in both early childhood education and college and career readiness.

The Owens Corning leadership gift coincides with the TPSF launch of its Write the Future Campaign. This is not a typical brick and mortar campaign. It is a community-wide initiative to assure that every student entering TPS will graduate prepared to take a positive, productive and lifelong role in our community.

The $1.5 million campaign will focus on accessibility to tools and resources and exposure to opportunities, as well as growth and sustainability to TPSF. An investment of this magnitude will impact the following areas:

  • Ensure more Toledo Public Schools students are prepared for college
  • Create a systemic approach for providing every TPS student K-12 learning experiences that build acumen in career readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy by engaging mentors from the business community to help expose, educate and prepare TPS students for future success.
  • Expand and enhance the highly successful Carpentry and Construction CTE program at Waite High School.

TPSF is grateful to donors like Owens Corning for their help in driving our mission to fill the gap created by cuts in public education funding and the local property tax cap – assuring equal opportunity for EVERY student.
