Toledo Refining recently teamed up with Toledo Public Schools to get students involved in thinking about the revitalization of their community through an essay contest.
For the essay, students shared their thoughts about why they enjoy Navarre Park. In addition, they were asked to share what they would like to see added or changed.
The contest was open to students of Birmingham, East Broadway, Garfield, Navarre, Oakdale and Raymer Elementary Schools. Toledo Refining initially planned to award $5,000 to the school with the most participants. However, in an effort to reward all students, they have donated an additional $5,000 to the second place school and $5,000 to the third place school. This makes the total gift $15,000!
In addition to the $15,000 donation, one student from each grade level will be selected from each of the schools and will receive a $25 Walmart gift card.
The three overall winning schools were Raymer, Garfield and Oakdale Elementary Schools!
